Let’s be honest: you’re just not that into Halloween.
Alas, you’ve been challenged by your friends to come up with one amazing costume but Halloween is tomorrow and you’ve done diddly-squat. Don’t fret, friend, because we here at ANDPOP have got your back.
While these five last minute Halloween costumes may not scream “I worked all month on this, PRAISE ME!”, they are, in our humble opinion, so clever and pop culture-influenced that you’ll surely make one or two people laugh (we’re obviously aiming high here). So here are five stupidly easy costumes you can pull together in minutes.
Bye, Felicia
Who It Is: Who the hell is Felicia, you ask? “Felisha” was a character in the 1995 comedy Friday who was trying to borrow a car from Chris Tucker’s Smokey character. After Smokey turns her down, she turns to Ice Cube’s Craig Jones who then tells her, “Bye, Felisha.”
Almost 20 years later, that Friday moment was re-popularized and the saying, “Bye, Felicia” is now used as a dismissive goodbye for, as explained by Nicole Richie, that “random you don’t care about.”
What You Need: Felicia can be just about anyone, so let your imagination run wild when you’re looking through your wardrobe. Then pick up a “Hi, my name is” tag at the dollar store and write “Felicia” on it. So, on the off chance someone actually says, “bye, Felicia,” walk up to them and give them a burning look of indignation and walk away. A little dismissive hand flick wouldn’t hurt.
You could also hand out a bunch of “Hello, my name is Felicia” name tags whenever you encounter a random you don’t care about.
No, It’s Becky
Who It Is: “No, It’s Becky” is longtime Tumblr meme that was recently acknowledged by Taylor Swift. According to Tumblr, Becky is a high school girl who snorted marijuana at a party and died. She strangely looks a lot like Taylor Swift but no, it’s Becky.
What You Need: Get in on the joke by buying a mustard yellow shirt à la Taylor Swift and iron the words “No, It’s Becky” on it. Or, if you’re really pressed for time, pair a white cardigan with a tank top. Top off your look with a plastic tiara and a long blonde wig.
Apple Scarf Guy
Who It Is: The guy with the princely hair cut who stole last September’s Apple Keynote announcement with his outfit: a dark purple scarf over a purple button down shirt.
What You Need: A light purple button up shirt, a dark purple circle scarf and a toy iPhone. A brunette wig parted in the middle would help finish off the look.
Glenn Coco
Who It Is: Glenn Coco was the non-essential Mean Girls character who stole the scene after he got four candy canes and Gretchen Wieners got none.
What You Need: To nail the perfect “scene stealer” look, pair your light blue jeans with a dark blue hoodie. Step up your game even further by creating four candy canes out of construction paper and then gluing them into a some string to create a candy cane necklace.
A Sim
Who It Is: A sim is a video game avatar in the popular life simulation game, The Sims.
What You Need: Wear whatever you like. Then use Google to find plumbob templates (like this one) to create your own plumbobs. Attach it to a hat or a headband and voila! You are now a Sim.
